🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Test Track offers Lightning Lane Multi Pass access—and it’s one of the most popular Tier 1 rides in EPCOT. If you want to skip the long standby line (especially in that Florida heat), plan ahead and book it early!

While Test Track 3.0 is packed with sleek updates and modern tech, longtime EPCOT fans might recognize something familiar woven into the storyline—because this reimagining doesn’t just look forward, it looks back. 🚘
🚘 A Nod to the Past: World of Motion
Before Test Track ever sped onto the scene, World of Motion was the original attraction in this pavilion. Running from EPCOT’s opening in 1982 until 1996, this dark ride took guests on a whimsical journey through the history of transportation—from the days of foot power and sailing ships, through the age of flight and automobiles, and ending with a futuristic cityscape lit by a neon “data stream.”
Hubby and I were fans of World of Motion back when Lyn was tiny—long before Kim and College Boy joined the crew. It had that classic EPCOT blend of humor and learning that made it a family favorite in those early years. That said, we don’t have quite the same deep nostalgia for it as we do for Dreamfinder and Figment (those two still hold the top spot in our EPCOT hearts). But we love that Test Track 3.0 gives a respectful nod to World of Motion’s legacy while steering the attraction toward a future-focused story that still fits beautifully within EPCOT’s mission.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Keep your eyes peeled in the queue and ride scenes—there are subtle references and visual callbacks to World of Motion tucked into the experience.
🛠️ No More Car Design Pre-Show
One of the big changes in Test Track 3.0 is the removal of the “build your own car” experience. In past versions, guests could create a custom concept vehicle before boarding and then see how it performed during the ride—a fun feature that made each visit a little different.
Now, the design stations are gone. Instead, the queue winds through six GM concept exhibits showcasing real-world innovations in vehicle technology. It’s bright, open, and more streamlined—but it definitely feels different.
We’ll be honest: this part was a bit of a disappointment for us. Competing to see whose car scored the highest was always part of the fun—especially for college boy, who grew up loving that feature most of all. But eliminating the car builder and formal pre-show has made the standby line move faster and the queue space feel less congested.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: While you can’t build a car anymore, the futuristic exhibits make for great photo ops—especially for tech fans and aspiring Imagineers!
🎢 The Ride Experience
Once aboard your newly styled test vehicle, you’ll roll through a series of high-tech indoor scenes that highlight the engineering behind today’s most advanced vehicles—focusing on safety, efficiency, and sensory innovation.
And then… the doors open. You’ll launch onto the iconic high-speed outdoor loop, racing up to 65 miles per hour in the fastest ride at Walt Disney World.

👀 Seen & Heard: First Impressions of Test Track 3.0
Test Track’s reopening has definitely sparked some excitement! With its sleek new storyline, vibrant lighting, and high-speed finale, this reimagined attraction is turning heads and drawing big crowds.
The early buzz? Guests are loving the polished feel of the new queue and the upgraded effects in the ride scenes. While some fans miss the interactive car builder, many are praising the overall experience as more immersive, more educational, and more aligned with EPCOT’s original mission. And yes—the outdoor loop is still the showstopper.
There’s also a strong wave of nostalgia, as longtime fans pick up on subtle nods to World of Motion, giving the update an emotional layer that speaks to both old-school EPCOT fans and first-timers.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: The standby line can get long—especially midday. Head there first thing in the morning, or reserve a Lightning Lane via Multi Pass if it's a priority on your list.

📸 Bonus Magic: Lyn visited Walt Disney World for the opening this week and has getting the scoop on everything new—including Test Track 3.0, the Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away parade, the brand-new GEO 82 Lounge, and live droid encounters in Galaxy’s Edge. Keep an eye out for even more updates, pics, and in-park tips from the Pixie Dust team!
📸 A Few Thoughts from Lyn:
“We really enjoyed it! The ‘Fun to Be Free’ musical nod was such a fun tribute to the OG World of Motion. A lot of the scene changes were unremarkable - but the new special effects and lighting added a nice touch. The room right before you zoom outdoors was absolutely spectacular—it felt like stepping right into that model city from the original attraction.”
🚙 So, is Test Track 3.0 Worth the Hype?
If you’re a fan of thrills, immersive design, or EPCOT history, absolutely yes. Test Track 3.0 combines adrenaline-pumping fun with thoughtful storytelling, giving it that perfect blend of classic EPCOT vision and modern Imagineering. It’s a standout attraction in the World Discovery lineup—and one we expect to see guests racing to for years to come.
