Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Guide: Rooms, Booking Dates & What Families Should Know

Well, Disney has done it. They have announced a resort that I am already mentally checking into almost a year before it opens.
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, being built in the former River Country area along Bay Lake near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, will officially open on July 1, 2027. The resort will have a lazy river, waterfront A-frame Lake Houses, boat transportation to Magic Kingdom, fireworks views and rooms inspired by Bambi, Pocahontas, Encanto, Fantasia and Brother Bear.
A-frames, Bay Lake and a Northern Lights-inspired bedroom? They came directly for me with this one. Of course, my travel-advisor brain does have a few questions. This will be a very large resort, prices have not been released and those beautiful Lake Houses may come with a beautiful little “are you kidding me?” price tag.
So, yes, I really want to stay here. But we also need to look past the pretty renderings and talk about the things that will actually matter when planning a Disney World vacation.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge opens July 1, 2027.
Cash reservations begin October 6 for Disney Vacation Club Members, October 7 for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders and October 8 for all other guests.
Disney has not yet released room rates, Vacation Points charts or a date for making reservations with DVC points.
A quick note before we dive in: Lakeshore Lodge is still under construction, so this is a planning preview rather than a resort review. Our information is based on Disney’s official announcements and concept art. We will continue updating this guide as Disney releases rates, maps, accessibility details and additional information...and I fully intend to update it again after I finally get to stay there.

Our One-Minute Lakeshore Lodge Planning Take
Based on what Disney has released so far, Lakeshore Lodge looks less like a convenient place to sleep between park days and more like a destination resort that needs time built into the vacation.
I would shortlist it for:
Families planning a Magic Kingdom-heavy trip. It may work especially well as part of a split stay, paired with a Magic Kingdom day or followed by a few nights at an EPCOT-area resort.
Guests who genuinely want resort time
Multigenerational groups needing larger accommodations
Families who value kitchens, laundry and separate sleeping spaces
Guests who will use the lazy river, pools and recreation
I would pause before booking it for:
A short, park-intensive trip
Guests who want monorail, Skyliner or walking access
Families who need predictable transportation times
Anyone who may struggle with long resort walks
Travelers working with a tighter resort budget
The way I am picturing it right now: Lakeshore Lodge may work especially well for two or three resort-focused nights at the beginning or end of a split stay, paired with a Magic Kingdom day and plenty of time at The Wetlands. Then you could move to a Skyliner resort for an EPCOT and Hollywood Studios-heavy portion of the trip. When Can You Book Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge?
Reservations will open in stages:
October 6, 2026: Disney Vacation Club Members can call Member Services at (800) 800-9800.
October 7, 2026: Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can call (407) 934-7639.
October 8, 2026: All other guests can book online or by calling (407) 934-7639.
Planning Note for DVC Members: the October 6 date is for making a cash reservation, not a reservation using Vacation Points. Disney has not released the Lakeshore Lodge points chart or announced when DVC Members will be able to book using points. Having points ready on October 6 will not be enough to float you straight into a Lake House.

Which Room at Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Is Best for Your Family?
Disney is giving us enough room categories at Lakeshore Lodge to make you need a vacation from planning your vacation. Choices range from compact studios for two to Grand Villas that sleep twelve, with traditional Resort Studios, Duo Studios, Deluxe Studios, one- to three-bedroom Villas, waterfront Lake Houses, Club Level rooms and a Presidential Suite.
Each category draws inspiration from a Disney film connected to nature, including Bambi, Pocahontas, Encanto, Fantasia and Brother Bear.
You do not need to memorize every bathroom configuration before deciding which category to investigate. Start with three questions:
How many people need beds?
Do you want a kitchenette, or do you need a full kitchen and laundry?
Are you using the room primarily as a place to sleep, or is the resort itself a major part of the vacation?
The 30-Second Room Match
Solo traveler or couple: Resort Studio King or Duo Studio
Family of four wanting two standard beds: Resort Studio Queen
Family of three or four wanting a kitchenette: Deluxe Studio
Family of five wanting extra space: One-Bedroom Villa or One-Bedroom Lake House
Group of six to nine: Two-Bedroom Villa or Two-Bedroom Lake House
Group of ten to twelve: Three-Bedroom Grand Villa
Guests interested in Club Level: Select Resort Studios or the Hidden Willow Presidential Suite
The final choice will depend heavily on pricing, but we can already identify some meaningful differences.
For Couples and Solo Travelers
Couples and solo travelers will have two smaller options: the Resort Studio King and the Duo Studio.
The Pocahontas-inspired Resort Studio King sleeps two and offers a traditional king bed, microwave and mini refrigerator. It should feel more like a standard Deluxe Resort room.
The Encanto-inspired Duo Studio also sleeps two, but it will have a queen-size pull-down bed, kitchenette, seating area and private balcony.
A Duo Studio could be a fun choice for a short couples trip, especially if it provides one of the less expensive ways to experience the resort. But small and adorable is only a good value if it is priced like a small room.
For Families of Three or Four
Families of three or four will probably be choosing between a Resort Studio Queen and a Deluxe Studio.
The Pocahontas-inspired Resort Studio Queen sleeps four and includes two standard queen beds, a microwave and mini refrigerator. Select Resort Studios will have balconies, but not all of them.
The Bambi-inspired Deluxe Studio also sleeps four. It includes one queen bed, one queen-size pull-down bed, a kitchenette with a wet bar, seating area and private balcony.
This may come down to a very practical question: does your family want two standard beds, or would you rather have the kitchenette and balcony?
There is a meaningful difference between two queen beds and one bed plus a pull-down bed, particularly when your children have reached the “I am absolutely not sharing with my sibling” stage of vacation planning.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Think about what your family does in a hotel room. A kitchenette is useful for breakfast, snacks and reheating leftovers. It matters less if everyone wants Mickey waffles every morning and the refrigerator becomes an expensive home for three bottles of water.
For Families of Five and Larger Groups
One-Bedroom Villa: The Bambi-inspired villa sleeps five and will include a separate bedroom, full kitchen, washer and dryer, living and dining areas, and a private patio or balcony. For a family of five, the one-bedroom may be the first traditional Villa category that comfortably accommodates everyone. It also provides something many hotel rooms cannot: a place for one person to sleep while someone else watches television, makes breakfast or begins the morning coffee process.
Two-Bedroom Villa: This option sleeps nine and adds another bedroom, bathroom and considerably more privacy. This could work well for larger families, grandparents traveling with adult children or two families sharing a vacation.
Three-Bedroom Grand Villa: The Fantasia-inspired villa sleeps up to twelve and provides a large central gathering space, full kitchen, multiple bathrooms and Bay Lake views.
Before reserving one large Villa, compare its cost with two or more separate studios. A Grand Villa creates wonderful shared space, but separate rooms may offer more privacy and occasionally a better price. A full kitchen can help lower food costs, but only if you plan to use it. Otherwise, it can become a very expensive place to store bottled water and untouched grocery-delivery bananas.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: For a longer Villa stay, arrange a grocery delivery for breakfast items, drinks and easy meals. In-room laundry may not sound exciting now, but halfway through a hot July trip, a washer and dryer can feel more magical than a fireworks view.
For a Resort-Focused Splurge—and the Room I Really Want
The Brother Bear-inspired Lake Houses will be freestanding A-frame accommodations directly along Bay Lake. One-Bedroom Lake Houses will sleep five, while Two-Bedroom Lake Houses will sleep eight. Both will include two bathrooms, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, separate living and dining spaces, and a private waterfront porch. The primary bedroom will also feature Northern Lights-inspired lighting.
This is the category I keep returning to. A-frames, Bay Lake, a private porch and the Northern Lights bedroom? My heart has made its decision. My wallet has not yet been consulted.
The Lake Houses could be wonderful for families planning a slower, resort-focused vacation. They may be less practical for guests trying to make rope drop every morning if they are located far from buses, boats and dining. We need the resort map before we can judge that tradeoff.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Do not choose a Lake House based only on the view. Once Disney releases the map, look at its distance from the boat dock, buses, restaurants and The Wetlands. The most beautiful room is not always the most convenient room.
For Club Level and Luxury Stays
Select Resort Studios and the Hidden Willow Presidential Suite will include access to The Artist’s Nest, the new Club Level lounge overlooking Cinderella Castle and the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
Club Level guests will receive refreshments throughout the day, concierge assistance and personalized planning support through Disney Signature Services.
The Pocahontas-inspired Presidential Suite sleeps six and includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, separate living room, washer and dryer, Bay Lake balcony and fireworks views.
It sounds beautiful. It also seems unlikely that “bargain” will appear anywhere in its description. Club Level may make sense for guests planning afternoon breaks, resort time and evenings in the lounge. It may be harder to justify for families who leave before breakfast and remain in the parks until bedtime.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Club Level works best when it supports the way you already travel. Do not plan your entire vacation around racing back to the lounge for snacks simply because those snacks were included in the room price.

What Makes Lakeshore Lodge a Destination Resort?
The Wetlands, Pools and Recreation
The resort’s main recreation area will be called The Wetlands. And yes, I recognize that “Would you like to spend the afternoon at The Wetlands?” does not immediately sound like a Disney vacation invitation. The actual amenities sound much more appealing than the name.
Lakeshore Lagoon: The main zero-entry feature pool with a spiral waterslide.
Daydream River: A lazy river winding through The Wetlands with glimpses of Bay Lake.
Otter Springs and Heron Shores: Pocahontas-inspired wet and dry play areas for younger guests.
Cypress Point: A quieter leisure pool and whirlpool spa with possible Magic Kingdom fireworks views.
Other recreation will include bike rentals, campfire activities, fishing excursions, jogging trails, playgrounds and Movies Under the Stars.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: If the lazy river and pools are part of the reason you choose Lakeshore Lodge, put resort time directly into your itinerary. Do not pay for these amenities and then spend seven straight days rushing from rope drop to park close without ever using them.
Dining at Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge
Disney has announced three primary dining locations, plus a separate fireworks-viewing lounge.
Moonglade: A waterfront table-service restaurant featuring seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
Bay Lake Provisions: An all-day quick-service marketplace serving meals, snacks, specialty coffees and handcrafted beverages.
Paint Out Point Bar & Grill: An open-air poolside location serving casual American food, shareable bites and specialty drinks.
Dandelion Terrace: A lounge offering views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant, along with a two-story collection of Disney artwork. Disney has not explained whether Dandelion Terrace will require reservations, limit access to resort guests or offer a separate menu.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: New Disney restaurants tend to attract plenty of curious diners. Review how Disney dining reservations work before your booking window opens, especially if one of the Lakeshore Lodge restaurants becomes a must-do.
Disney Deluxe Resort Benefits
Guests staying at Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge will receive Disney Deluxe Resort benefits, including:
Early Theme Park Entry
Extended Evening Hours on select nights
Complimentary Disney transportation
Advance access to dining reservations, Lightning Lane passes and select Enchanting Extras
The inclusion of Extended Evening Hours could add meaningful value, particularly when those hours are offered at Magic Kingdom. Of course, that benefit only helps if your family can and wants to stay in a park late at night. Families with young children may place more value on the lazy river, separate sleeping spaces or easy Magic Kingdom transportation.
Transportation to Magic Kingdom and the Other Parks
Lakeshore Lodge guests will be able to take a complimentary water taxi to Magic Kingdom. Bus transportation will be available to:
EPCOT
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Disney water parks
Disney Springs
There will not be monorail or Disney Skyliner service, and guests will not be able to walk to a theme park.
Boat transportation to Magic Kingdom is a definite perk, but it is not always as quick as seeing “Magic Kingdom Resort Area” on a map may suggest. Guests will still need to allow time to walk to the dock, wait for a boat, load and cross Bay Lake. Weather can also affect water transportation. That matters during a July stay, when afternoon thunderstorms regularly roll through Central Florida.
We will also want to see what type of boats Disney uses. Not every form of Disney water transportation offers the same experience for guests using wheelchairs or ECVs.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Do not cut your timing too close for an early dining reservation or rope drop. Until we know how frequently the boats run, leave extra transportation time and ask about bus alternatives during severe weather.

What Could Make Lakeshore Lodge Less Practical Than It Looks?
I am very excited about this resort. The Lake Houses are calling my name. The lazy river sounds delightful. I love the idea of sitting near Bay Lake with a cup of coffee in the morning and watching the Electrical Water Pageant at night.
But wanting to stay here and knowing whether it will be a practical choice for a particular family are two different questions. Pretty concept art cannot tell us how long the walks will be, how crowded the lazy river may feel or whether the boat transportation will be as convenient as it sounds. Those details may ultimately matter just as much as the Bay Lake view.
This Is a Very Large Resort
The nature theme may make Lakeshore Lodge sound like a quiet little collection of cabins tucked into the trees. It is not.
With 967 accommodations, this will be a very large resort. That size is not automatically a problem, but it raises some practical questions. We do not yet know how long the hallways and outdoor walks will be, where the bus stops and boat dock will sit in relation to the rooms, or how far the Lake Houses will be from dining, transportation and The Wetlands.
We are also curious about capacity. Nearly 1,000 accommodations could mean quite a few people hoping to float around Daydream River on a hot July afternoon, pick up breakfast at Bay Lake Provisions or grab food near the pool.
None of those concerns are dealbreakers, but we need a detailed resort map and a better understanding of how the restaurants, pools and transportation will operate before we can judge how easy Lakeshore Lodge will be to navigate.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: When Disney releases the resort map, do not look only at room views. Pay attention to distances from your room category to the buses, boat dock, quick service, pools and lobby. At a resort this large, the “best” room may be the one that saves your family the most walking.
Fireworks Views Sound Lovely, But…
Several areas of Lakeshore Lodge will have views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, including Dandelion Terrace, Cypress Point, The Artist’s Nest and select rooms.
That sounds wonderful, and for many families it will be.
It can also mean hearing fireworks from your room when younger children are trying to sleep. The Electrical Water Pageant is charming, nostalgic and not especially quiet as it passes the resort at night.
A fireworks-view room may be worth requesting if your family stays up late and plans to enjoy the show. Families with early bedtimes or children sensitive to sudden noise may prefer a quieter location.
🧚♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: “Best room location” is different for every family. A fireworks view is not automatically better than a quiet room close to transportation. Think about sleep, walking distance and sensory needs before making a room request.
Should You Stay During Opening Summer?
Staying at a brand-new Disney resort can be great fun. You get to explore everything while it still feels shiny and new, and there is something special about being among the first guests.
Opening-season stays can also come with a few hiccups. Cast Members will be learning new routines, landscaping may still be filling in and some amenities may need adjustments once hundreds of families begin using them every day. July also brings heat and afternoon storms, which could affect the pools, lazy river and boat service.
If Lakeshore Lodge itself is part of the adventure and your family can roll with a few surprises, an opening-summer stay could be wonderful. If this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip and you need everything to operate as smoothly and predictably as possible, waiting a few months may be the better choice.
