Walt Disney World is always evolving—refurbishing beloved attractions, debuting new experiences, and updating resort spaces to keep the magic fresh. But nobody wants to show up for their dream trip and find their favorite ride unexpectedly closed. 😱


This guide is your go-to resource for ride closures, hotel refurbishments, and reimagined experiences happening now and coming soon across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, the resorts, and water parks.

We update this list weekly to help you plan smarter. Bookmark it, check back often, and keep that itinerary flexible!


🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Some closures are planned months in advance—others pop up with little warning. Always double-check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for live updates.


Transportation

  • Disney's Skyliner - closed for maintenance from January 24 - 30, 2027


🦖 Animal Kingdom – Current & Upcoming Closures

  • DinoLand U.S.A. - All attractions and areas are permanently closed on February 2, 2026 to make way for Tropical Americas area. - Opening TBA

  • Conservation Station, including the Wildlife Express Train and Rafiki’s Planet Watch - Closed for construction to make way for the new Bluey’s Wild World, featuring Bluey and Bingo meet & greet, interactive games, dancing, and photo opportunities. Reopening May 26, 2026.


🏰 Magic Kingdom – Current & Upcoming Closures

  • Haunted Mansion - attraction’s exterior grounds and queue area ongoing through 2026. The attration itself remain open.

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – Closed January 6, 2025 for a major refurbishment and track replacement. The attraction is expected to reopen Spring 2026 (likely around May).

  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – Closed August 4, 2025 for a major reimagining. The attraction is scheduled to reopen April 8, 2026 with updated ride vehicles, new targets, additional scenes, and a brand-new robot support character named Buddy.

  • Walt Disney World Railroad: Frontierland Station - Closed for new construction. The WDW Railroad will still run back and forth between the Main Street U.S.A. Station and Fantasyland Station.

  • Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat -  Permanently closed July 7, 2025


🌐 EPCOT – Current & Upcoming Closures

  • Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along / Impressions de France – Temporary refurbishment beginning February 22, 2026.

  • Soarin’ Around the World – The attraction will temporarily close on May 14,2026 to install the limited-time Soarin’ Across America film celebrating the United States’ 250th anniversary. The updated version debuts May 26, 2026.


🎬 Hollywood Studios – Current & Upcoming Closures

  • All Areas of the Muppet Courtyard Including Mama Melrose, PizzaRizzo, and Muppet*Vision 3D are permanently closed to make way for the new Monstropolis area. Opening TBA.

  • Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith — Closed March 2, 2026 for reimagining as Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, expected to reopen Summer 2026.

  • Animation Courtyard areas permanently closed to make way for the new Walt Disney Studios/Magic of Disney Animation area and attractions - opening May 26, 2026. Read more here.

    • Disney Jr. Play and Dance – Permanently closed

    • Star Wars Launch Bay - Permanently closed


🏨 Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Refurbishments

All Star Sports Resort

  • Surfboard Bay Pool will be undergoing a refurbishment from January 2026 until late April 2026

Animal Kingdom Lodge

  • Kidani Village Guest Rooms are undergoing furbishment - from Fall 2025 - May 2026

    • Kidani Village Samawati Springs Pool Slide is currently closed for a brief routine maintenance

  • Jambo House Guest Rooms will be undergoing refurbishment - from May 2026 - January 2027

Beach Club Resort

  • Has ongoing exterior maintenance through June 2027

  • Leisure Pool Refurbishment from January 2026 - May 2026

BoardWalk Inn

  • Ongoing maintenance from Novemebr 2025 throughout 2026

  • Luna Park Pool and Play Area January 11, 2027 - April 2027 will be closed for routine maintenance

  • Leaping Horse Libations January 11, 2027 - April 2027 will be closed for routine maintenance

Contemporary Resort

  • Bay Lake Tower and Convention Center - Refurbishments ongoing through July of 2026

  • Bay Cove Pool will be closed for refurbishments from January 26, 2026 through May 2026

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

  • Grand Floridian lobby refurbishment expected to be completed in 2026

Old Key West Resort

  • Turtle Pond Pool, Turtle Pond Pool Spa, the BBQ area and the playground will be closed for routine maintenance until mid-February 2026

Polynesian Village Resort

  • Exterior and road refurbishment through 2026

Pop Century Resort

  • Guest room refurbishment through

Port Orleans – Riverside

  • Room refurbishments are ongoing through August 2027

Wilderness Lodge (including Copper Creek Villas)

  • Exterior renovations through sometime in 2027

  • Villa renovations through sometime in the Fall 2025

Yacht Club

  • Undergoing routine exterior maintenance through late 2026

  • The Admiral leisure pool is for routine maintenance through early May 2026.

💦 Water Parks – Current Status

  • Blizzard BeachSlush Gusher temporarily closed reopen TBA

  • Typhoon Lagoon – Closing for routine maintenance - reopening May 12, 2026
