Walt Disney World is always evolving—refurbishing beloved attractions, debuting new experiences, and updating resort spaces to keep the magic fresh. But nobody wants to show up for their dream trip and find their favorite ride unexpectedly closed. 😱

This guide is your go-to resource for ride closures, hotel refurbishments, and reimagined experiences happening now and coming soon across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, the resorts, and water parks.

We update this list weekly to help you plan smarter. Bookmark it, check back often, and keep that itinerary flexible!


🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Some closures are planned months in advance—others pop up with little warning. Always double-check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for live updates.

🦖 Animal Kingdom – Current & Upcoming Closures

  • TriceraTop Spin – Permanently closed January 13, 2025

  • Fossil Fun Games – Permanently closed January 13, 2025

  • Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures – Permanently closed January 13, 2025

  • DINOSAUR – Closure expected late 2025 or early 2026 (exact date TBD)

  • The Boneyard – Permanently closing September 1, 2025

  • It’s Tough to Be a Bug – Closed March 17, 2025. Reopening as Zootopia: Better Together! in late 2025


🏰 Magic Kingdom – Current & Upcoming Closures

  • Astro Orbiter – Closed January 13, 2025 through Summer 2025

  • Tom Sawyer Island – Permanently closing July 7, 2025

  • Liberty Square Riverboat – Permanently closing July 7, 2025

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – Closed January 6, 2025 through 2026 for refurbishment

  • Hall of Presidents – Currently closed for refurbishment

  • Dumbo Playground – Closed February 24, 2025 through Spring 2025

  • Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin – Closing August 2025 for reimagining; reopening in 2026


🌐 EPCOT – Current & Upcoming Closures

  • Test Track – Closed for reimagining; reopening July 22, 2025


🎬 Hollywood Studios – Current & Upcoming Closures

  • Reopened: The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure (May 27, 2025)

  • Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – Permanently closed

  • Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After – Opened May 27, 2025

  • Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano – Permanently closed May 10, 2025

  • Muppet*Vision 3D – Permanently closed June 7, 2025

  • PizzeRizzo – Permanently closed June 7, 2025

  • Disney Jr. Play and Dance – Closed May 25, 2025; reopening Fall 2025


🏨 Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Refurbishments

All-Star Movies

  • Reopened April 5, 2025

Pop Century Resort

  • Room refurbishments through mid-February 2026. Construction may be visible during daytime hours. Pools remain open.

Yacht & Beach Club Resorts + Villas

  • Storm-Along Bay & Shipwreck Pool: Closed Jan–June 2025

  • Room refurbishments: Ongoing through May 2025

BoardWalk Inn

  • Interior and shop renovations ongoing through Summer 2025

  • Expect daytime construction

Jellyrolls Piano Bar

  • Permanently closed

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

  • Currently undergoing refurbishment; construction may be visible during the day

Bay Lake Tower (Contemporary Resort)

  • Refurbishment through September 2025

Port Orleans – French Quarter

  • Room renovations through Summer 2025

Port Orleans – Riverside (Magnolia Bend)

  • Renovations from April 2025 through January 2026

Polynesian Village Resort

  • Exterior and road refurbishment through 2026

Wilderness Lodge (including Copper Creek Villas)

  • Exterior and villa renovations through September 2025

  • Blizzard Beach – Reopened

  • Typhoon Lagoon – Reopened
