Disney Cruise Line Fall 2027 & Spring 2028 Itineraries: New York, Panama Canal & More

They’ve been dropping hints for the last couple of weeks, but it is finally here; Disney Cruise Line has released its Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 itineraries.  We’ve got new ports to sail from, new itineraries, and the return of a few favorites.

The biggest headline is the return of Disney Cruise Line to New York City, this time with the Disney Wish. But that is far from the only change. The Disney Magic will make two Panama Canal crossings with new ports of call, the Disney Destiny is moving to Port Canaveral for the first time, the Disney Fantasy is getting its first Bermuda sailing, and both San Juan and Galveston are getting some interesting itinerary options.

Early booking begins for select Castaway Club members on August 31, 2026, with reservations opening to the general public on September 8, 2026. 

So, let's take a look at what Disney has announced and a few of the sailings that caught our attention.

Disney Cruise Line Returns to New York City

This is probably the biggest news from the latest itinerary release.

Disney Cruise Line will return to New York City in Fall 2027, the first Disney cruises from New York since 2023. Even more interesting, it will be the Disney Wish making the trip.

Fresh off of her first season sailing in Europe during Summer 2027, the Wish will arrive in New York in late September for a very limited run of seven cruises ranging from four to seven nights. 

Five of those sailings will visit Bermuda, with three offering an additional day on the island. Other itineraries head north into New England and Atlantic Canada with stops including Boston, Saint John and Halifax. 

This is particularly interesting because the Wish has spent most of her sailing history offering short Bahamian cruises from Port Canaveral. A six- or seven-night sailing gives guests considerably more time to explore a ship that can feel very busy when you are trying to fit everything into three or four nights.

We love seeing more variety for the Wish. There is a lot packed into this ship, from three completely different rotational dining experiences to shows, lounges, kids clubs, character experiences and adult dining. Having several extra days onboard changes the experience quite a bit.  She’s a lovely ship, and we enjoyed our quick weekend getaway on her, but having more time on her?  Sounds like a win to us. The New York sailings also open up Disney cruising to families in the Northeast who may be able to drive or take the train to their cruise instead of flying to Florida.

We are looking straight at you Canada fall foliage Wish sailing.  We are all in for that. 

🧚 Pixie Dust Planning Tip: A fall cruise from New York is a very different packing and planning experience from a Disney cruise from Florida. Weather in New England and Atlantic Canada can be cool and unpredictable by October, and fall color never arrives on an exact schedule. We'd look at the foliage as a potentially gorgeous bonus rather than book the cruise only for peak leaves.

Planning a Disney Wish Cruise from New York?

There are only seven New York sailings, but there are some big differences between them. We're taking a closer look at the Bermuda and Canada itineraries, fall weather, Halloween cruises and which sailing may make the most sense for different families.

The Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy Add More San Juan Sailings

New York isn't the only place getting more Disney Cruise Line options.

Disney is also expanding its sailings from San Juan, Puerto Rico, with both the Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy offering cruises from the island during the new season.  

After finishing her New York season, the Disney Wish will sail five nights from New York to San Juan with a stop in Bermuda.

From there, the Wish will offer a seven-night Southern Caribbean sailing visiting:

• Aruba

• St. Maarten

• Bonaire

• Dominica

She will then reposition to Port Canaveral on a four-night sailing that visits both Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.  

The Disney Fantasy will also spend more time in San Juan. In December 2027, the Fantasy will sail a seven-night Southern Caribbean cruise from San Juan, followed by a five-night Eastern Caribbean sailing that ends in Fort Lauderdale. The Fantasy returns to San Juan in late April and May 2028 for two additional seven-night Southern Caribbean itineraries, with ports including Curaçao, Bonaire, Barbados and Antigua. 

San Juan departures are worth a second look for those of us who want a more port-focused Caribbean itinerary. They do add another layer of travel planning compared with sailing from Florida, but they also put the ship much closer to Southern Caribbean islands that are difficult to reach on a typical seven-night cruise from Port Canaveral.

We are excited about this prospect, and will be doing some research on the best way to approach the new itineraries and the excursions for these ports.

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Before comparing a San Juan cruise directly with one from Florida, price the entire trip. Airfare and pre-cruise accommodations can change the equation. We would also plan to arrive in San Juan at least a day before sailing, which gives you a little buffer against flight delays and the bonus of actually getting to enjoy Puerto Rico.

Disney Magic Will Sail Two Panama Canal Cruises

The Disney Magic gets two of the most unusual itineraries in this release. Disney will offer a pair of 14-night Panama Canal repositioning cruises, one in each direction. 

In November 2027, the Magic will sail eastbound from San Diego to Galveston and make Disney Cruise Line's first call at Fuerte Amador, Panama, which serves the Panama City area.

Then in March 2028, the Magic heads back west on another 14-night cruise from Galveston to San Diego. That sailing includes a maiden call at Colon, Panama, located on the Caribbean side of the canal. 

This isn't a completely new route for the Magic. Repositioning cruises have carried her through the Panama Canal in both directions as Disney moves the ship between seasons. What makes these newly announced sailings different are the maiden calls in Panama, with Fuerte Amador on the eastbound cruise and Colon on the westbound sailing.

The flip side? Fourteen nights is a big commitment in vacation days and cruise fare, and these are one-way sailings, so you'll also need to account for flights from two different cities. Eight sea days will sound like heaven to some cruisers and a very long time on a ship to others.

These are not necessarily the first cruises we'd recommend to someone testing the waters with Disney Cruise Line, but for repeat cruisers looking for something very different from the standard Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries, these immediately stand out.

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Price repositioning cruises with the airfare included. A cruise fare that looks attractive can look very different once you add one-way flights, pre-cruise lodging and transfers at both ends.

Disney Fantasy Will Sail to Bermuda for the First Time

The Disney Fantasy also gets a notable first. After sailing from Port Canaveral from September through November 2027, the Fantasy will eventually reposition to Fort Lauderdale for four- to seven-night Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean cruises.

But tucked into that schedule is a special eight-night Bermuda cruise, marking the Fantasy's first sailing to Bermuda.  The itinerary will also visit both Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

This is another one we'd flag to look at more closely before booking opens. An eight-night Disney Fantasy cruise is already a nice change of pace, and combining Bermuda with both Disney island destinations makes it one of the more unusual itineraries in the release. 

We haven't sailed to Bermuda yet, and wrapping it up with our favorite Disney island ports sounds like a win. But eight nights also means more vacation time and usually a higher overall trip cost. And while Bermuda can still be lovely, especially in fall, don't plan for the same weather and water temperatures you might expect farther south in the Caribbean.

Big Changes at the Florida Homeports

Disney Destiny Is Moving to Port Canaveral

The Disney Destiny will begin Fall 2027 sailing from Fort Lauderdale before making her first move to Port Canaveral.  Once there, the Destiny will offer three- to seven-night cruises to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean. That move also means something bigger for Disney's Florida lineup.

Beginning in November 2027, three Wish-class ships will be based at Port Canaveral:

• Disney Wish

• Disney Treasure

• Disney Destiny

For families combining a Walt Disney World vacation with a Disney Cruise, that creates considerably more choice in both cruise length and onboard experience without having to transfer to Fort Lauderdale. This could have a bigger practical impact for a lot of families planning a Walt Disney World plus Disney Cruise vacation With three of Disney's newest ships sailing from Port Canaveral, it should become easier to choose a cruise based on the ship and itinerary you actually want rather than simply what fits around your Disney World dates. As a vacation planner that excites me, and gives so many more options for creating the different kinds of trips for different peoples needs. 

One little caveat: having three Wish-class ships at Port Canaveral doesn't mean they're interchangeable. Wish, Treasure and Destiny share a basic ship design, but the restaurants, lounges, shows and overall themes are different. If you're combining a cruise with Disney World, I wouldn't automatically pick whichever sailing fits first. This gives us more room to match the ship to the family too.

🧚 Pixie Dust Planning Tip: For a rare or limited cruise itinerary, choose the cruise first and fit your Walt Disney World days around it. Disney World isn't going anywhere that week; that six- or eight-night special sailing might only happen once.

And on a personal PPPD note, we hear a WDW/Destiny trip calling us next year.  I personally have had serious Disney Destiny FOMO and I have researched her and booked her for clients.  We haven’t been able to swing a WDW Destiny out of Fort Lauderdale combo in terms of logistics and finances this year, so we’ve had to “make do” with the Wish and an upcoming trip on the Treasure next winter. So we love the potential here. 

The Disney Treasure Gets a Couple of Different Itineraries

The Disney Treasure will continue primarily with the seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean schedule she was designed around.

But there are two departures from the usual rotation in this release:

• One eight-night Eastern Caribbean sailing

• One six-night Bahamian sailing with two visits to Disney Castaway Cay

We tend to notice the oddball sailings on ships with otherwise very predictable schedules, and these are exactly the type we would compare when booking windows open. If you specifically want to experience the Treasure but don't want the standard seven-night Eastern or Western Caribbean itinerary, these give you another option.  Or if the Treasure is an old beloved friend, this gives you new places to visit.  

Disney Dream Splits Its Season Between Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale

The Disney Dream will begin the season at Port Canaveral with three- and four-night Bahamas cruises.

In November 2027, she moves to Fort Lauderdale for three- to five-night Bahamas sailings. Disney also announced one six-night itinerary with two stops at Disney Castaway Cay. 

This is not one of the headline changes, but guests looking specifically for extra Castaway Cay time may want to keep that six-night cruise on the radar, and it is reassuring that Fort Lauderdale is still high on the Disney radar.

More Choices from California and Texas

Disney Magic and Disney Wonder Continue Sailing from San Diego

Disney Cruise Line will have two ships sailing from San Diego through early November 2027. Both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will begin the season in California with three- to seven-night Baja and Mexican Riviera cruises. 

The Wonder will remain in San Diego throughout the Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 season, with itineraries visiting destinations including:

• Ensenada

• Cabo San Lucas

• Catalina Island

The Magic will leave California on her eastbound Panama Canal cruise before settling into her Galveston season.  Hubs and I are going to be sailing on the Disney Wonder this winter out of San Diego and are really looking forward to the Ensenada/Catalina combo stops.

Galveston Gets Cruises to Both Disney Island Destinations

After transiting the Panama Canal, the Disney Magic will return to Galveston, Texas, for four- to seven-night cruises. Some of the seven-night Bahamas itineraries from Galveston will visit both Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Disney Castaway Cay. 

Though we have scattered around the country, Houston is our home, and the Galveston port is the one many of our friends sail from.  There was a lot of worry that the Galveston sailings had been missing from any previous announcements, though rumors abounded they would be expanding the port to support better DCL.  

One of the flaws with booking DCL out of Galveston has been that  sailing from there traditionally means spending more cruise time simply reaching the Bahamas. A seven-night itinerary that includes both Disney destinations may be particularly appealing to our Texas-area friends and families who want the Disney island experience without flying to Florida.

Taking a cruise out of Galveston creates excellent drive-to-port option for Texas or Louisiana families; but Houston is huge, and navigating from there to the port is less convenient for fly-in guests.  And I definitely have clients and friends who were hoping for a different ship.  With Royal Caribbean bringing Icon of the Seas to Galveston in 2027, along with newer ships from several other cruise lines, I do wonder how long Disney can rely on the Magic alone to keep attracting Texas cruisers. I would love to eventually see either a newer Disney ship or even more distinctive itineraries added from Galveston.

Disney Adventure Continues Sailing from Singapore

The Disney Adventure will continue sailing from Singapore, with new three- and four-night itineraries scheduled from September through December 2027. 

Disney also announced a new port for some earlier Adventure sailings. Select cruises from December 31, 2026 through May 2027 will visit Langkawi, Malaysia, giving guests an opportunity to get off the ship and explore rather than spending the entire sailing at sea. 

For travelers coming from the U.S., though, we would probably look at a three- or four-night Adventure sailing as one part of a larger Asia vacation rather than fly that distance solely for a short cruise. We long for the day when we will be able to sail on the Disney Adventure, and while we have an Asia trip planned for college boy’s graduation in 2027, we are aiming for Japan, not Singapore.  (Looking at you, Tokyo DisneySea and Tokyo Disneyland)

Halloween on the High Seas and Very Merrytime Cruises Return

No surprise here: Disney's popular seasonal cruises will return again in Fall 2027.  These sailings are super popular with families wanting to bring that holiday magic into their vacation. 

Halloween on the High Seas sailings begin on select ships in September 2027, with Halloween decorations, character costumes, themed entertainment and trick-or-treating at sea. Then in November and December, Very Merrytime Cruises return with holiday décor, seasonal entertainment, special treats and visits from Santa.  It is worthwhile to note that Holiday sailings can command a premium and holiday airfare can compound it, which can make the total vacation much harder to justify compared with a similar non-holiday sailing.

We are hoping when more details about the Disney Believe’s inaugural sailing and destinations are released we will be able to roll a little magic into our first sailing on her.

• The one we're most tempted by: Wish from NYC to Canada.

• The one we'd choose for a long-time DCL cruiser: Panama Canal.

• The one that may be easiest to build into a Disney vacation: Destiny from Port Canaveral.

• The sleeper itinerary: Eight-night Fantasy to Bermuda + both Disney islands.

• The one we'd look at carefully before booking: San Juan/repositioning cruises, simply because airfare and one-way logistics can materially change the total vacation cost.

Bookings will open in stages. Disney has confirmed that select Castaway Club members can begin booking August 31, 2026, with reservations opening to the general public on September 8, 2026.

Disney Cruise Line pricing can change as a sailing fills, and availability in specific stateroom categories, connecting rooms, accessible rooms and Concierge can become more limited.

That’s a Wrap

Disney Cruise Line's growing fleet is starting to show up in a meaningful way in its itinerary choices. More ships should mean more than simply more departure dates. It should give guests more choices about where they sail, how long they go and what kind of Disney Cruise Line vacation they want to have. This round of itineraries moves further in that direction.
