Before you book, compare all of the available promotions to see which one offers the best overall value for your vacation.

MNSSHP Entry & Wristbands

Guests with a party ticket can enter Magic Kingdom starting at 4:00 p.m.—but you’ll need to grab a wristband to stay for the festivities once the event begins at 7 PM.

Here’s how to get yours:

  • Entering with a party ticket at 4 p.m.? You’ll be directed to the far-right turnstiles and receive your MNSSHP wristband as you enter. You’ll also walk through a special path where you’ll get your trick-or-treat bag and first candy stop.

  • Already inside the park as a day guest? No problem. You can pick up your wristband at these in-park locations:

    • Tomorrowland – In front of Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

    • Fantasyland – Near Mickey’s PhilharMagic

    • Adventureland – Tortuga Tavern, across from Pirates of the Caribbean

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Without a wristband, you’ll be asked to leave once the party starts—so don’t forget to grab it!

Costumes at the Party

Adults can wear costumes at MNSSHP! Disney’s usual costume rules are relaxed:

  • No masks for adults

  • Capes or skirts must not drag on the ground

Trying to decide whether or not to wear a costume? Jump further down for To Costume or Not to Costume?

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Florida = hot and humid, even in October. Think light, breathable, and rain-friendly.

What’s New at MNSSHP in 2026?

Disney has added two interactive entertainment experiences to the 2026 party lineup.

  • Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup

Join Stitch, Lilo, and Angel at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland for an ever-changing Halloween masquerade. After Stitch discovers Lilo’s Costume Trunk, each new accessory leads to a different theme, complete with music, videos, interactive games, costumes, and candy giveaways.

Unlike Stitch’s former Elvis-themed character greeting, this is an interactive dance experience rather than a traditional meet-and-greet.

  • Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash

Captain Jack Sparrow has dropped anchor in Adventureland and is looking for new crew members. Guests can participate in pirate antics and learn the ways of a swashbuckler alongside Captain Jack, a pirate band, and daring jugglers.

Exact performance times for both new experiences may vary by party night. Check the My Disney Experience app or the party guide after entering Magic Kingdom.

What We Learned from the First 2026 MNSSHP

The first 2026 party confirmed several experiences and strategy changes that were not fully explained on Disney’s official event map.

Haunted Mansion Welcome Trail

Market Street Welcome received an expanded Haunted Mansion presence from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Opening-night appearances included Blair Lockward, new character Lady Fermotta, Madame Carlotta or Madame Renatta, other Haunted Mansion residents, and the Grave Diggers. These surprise characters may rotate or appear intermittently.

Max and the Powerline Party Pack Changed Format

Max no longer appears as a Main Street pre-parade. During the first party, Max and the Powerline Party Pack presented short performances at locations including the Adventureland Stage and Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café.

Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash Changes Throughout the Night

Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash is a series of changing pirate performances rather than one continuously repeated show. Opening-night segments included audience swordplay, juggling and stunts, and an appearance by Captain Barbossa. Guests may see different material by stopping more than once.

Surprise Treat-Trail Characters

Pirate Goofy appeared inside Mickey’s PhilharMagic, while Maleficent and the Evil Queen appeared inside Princess Fairytale Hall. The Hitchhiking Ghosts also materialized periodically on the Diamond Horseshoe stage. These appearances are not traditional continuously operating meet-and-greets.

Opening-Night Strategy Takeaways

  • Prioritize the Market Street Welcome trail before it closes at 8:00 p.m.

  • Do not wait on Main Street for a Powerline Max pre-parade.

  • Treat Captain Jack and Stitch as flexible stop-in entertainment.

  • Visit character-filled treat trails while crowds gather around the castle.

  • Consider the 11:15 p.m. parade for lighter crowds.

  • Do not attempt every major character line in one night.

Character Meet & Greets

Meeting rare and costumed characters is one of the biggest highlights of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Most meet-and-greets begin at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted, but a few popular characters may begin greeting earlier.

Market Street Welcome, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

  • Opening-night appearances included Blair Lockward, new character Lady Fermotta, other Haunted Mansion residents, Madame Carlotta or Madame Renatta, and the Grave Diggers. Some characters later appeared near Haunted Mansion, and the lineup may rotate. Cruella de Vil and Mother Gothel appeared along the Market Street Welcome trail in 2025, but they were not confirmed there during the first 2026 party.

Grave Diggers in Welcome Market during MNSSHP

Main Street, U.S.A.

  • Jack Skellington and Sally at Town Square Theater (start around 4:10 p.m.).

  • Ariel and Prince Eric near Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid

  • Gaston near Gaston’s Tavern

  • Pluto near the entrance to Storybook Circus

  • Goofy in Mickey's PhilharMagic's trick-or-treat trail

  • Maleficent & the Evil Queen in Princess Fairytale Hall's trick-or-treat trail

Tomorrowland

  • Stitch, Lilo, and Angel appear during Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup at Rockettower Plaza Stage. This is interactive entertainment rather than a traditional character greeting.

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Prioritize your must-see characters early. Lines for rare characters (like Pooh & Friends or the Alice group) can stretch to 45+ minutes later in the night and Jack Skellington & Sally can be upwards of 2 hours.

Disney Villains at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

One of the biggest draws of MNSSHP is seeing Disney Villains throughout Magic Kingdom. Some appear in scheduled entertainment, while others may roam the park or surprise guests along select treat trails. These appearances can vary by party night and may not be traditional meet-and-greets.

Villains and Surprise Appearances to Watch For

  • Cruella de Vil and Mother Gothel: Surprised guests along Market Street Welcome in previous years but were not confirmed to be there during the first 2026 party.

  • Queen of Hearts: In Fantasyland with Alice in Wonderland

  • Lady Tremaine & the Stepsisters: Roaming in Fantasyland with hilarious banter.

  • Maleficent: Princess Fairytale Hall Trick or Treat Trail.

  • Evil Queen: Princess Fairytale Hall Trick or Treat Trail.

  • Grave Diggers and Haunted Mansion residents: Appeared along the Market Street Welcome trail during the first 2026 party. Appearances may vary.

Villains in the Boo-To-You Parade

The 2026 Boo-to-You Parade includes a large lineup of Disney Villains, although individual performers may vary by party night.

  • Oogie Boogie (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

  • Cruella de Vil (101 Dalmatians)

  • Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland)

  • Lady Tremaine & The Stepsisters (Cinderella)

  • Evil Queen (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)

  • Ursula with Flotsam & Jetsam (The Little Mermaid)

  • Horace & Jasper (101 Dalmatians)

  • Anastasia & Drizella (Cinderella)

  • Dr. Facilier (The Princess and the Frog)

  • Bowler Hat Guy (Meet the Robinsons)

  • Honest John (Foulfellow) & Gideon (Pinocchio)

  • Jafar (Aladdin) now walking ahead of the Villains float instead of riding

  • Captain Hook and Mr. Smee (Peter Pan)

  • Mother Gothel (Tangled)

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: The 11:15 PM parade usually has thinner crowds. If villains are your priority, aim for that showing.

Villains in the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular

  • Winifred, Mary, and Sarah (Hocus Pocus)

  • Oogie Boogie (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

  • Dr. Facilier (The Princess and the Frog)

  • Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)

  • Evil Queen (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)

  • Hades (Hercules)

  • Jafar (Aladdin)

  • Captain Hook (Peter Pan)

  • Lady Tremaine (Cinderella)

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Skip the first castle show — the later performances are usually less crowded, making it easier to get a great spot.

Attractions with Halloween Overlays

Some attractions at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party get special Halloween-themed makeovers just for the occasion. These overlays add an extra layer of fun and are exclusive to the event!

Space Mountain – Deep Space Darkness

Blast off into complete darkness as Space Mountain turns off the lights for MNSSHP. The ride features a thrilling new soundtrack with eerie music and sound effects that make the already intense roller coaster feel even more out-of-this-world.

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: If you are a thrill ride aficionado, Space Mountain in the dark is out of this world!

Mad Tea Party – Spooky Spin

Take a wild ride on the Mad Tea Party, where flashing lights, fog effects, and Halloween-themed music give this whimsical spinner a delightfully spooky twist after dark. Each teacup seems to have its own mood!

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor & Mickey's PhilharMagic

These theatre attractions both become trick-or-treat trails with a few extra surprises

Haunted Mansion – Ghastly Guest Stars

The Haunted Mansion gets extra eerie during MNSSHP, with enhanced effects and a live appearance by Madame Carlotta, who interacts with guests waiting in the queue. The line area also comes alive with unique features like a bubbling fountain, a glowing mausoleum, and the iconic groundskeeper scene—perfect for spooky photo ops.

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Haunted Mansion is one of the most popular party attractions. Ride early or during parades to avoid the longest wait times.

Trick-or-Treating in the Park

Free candy? One of the sweetest parts of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? The unlimited trick-or-treating! You’ll get a free reusable treat bag when you enter, and you can hit as many candy trails as your sweet tooth desires.

🩵 Allergy-Friendly Trick-or-Treating

Blue tokens for allergy friendly treats at MNSSHP are exchanged for treats at 2 locations in the Magic Kingdom

Guests with food allergies don’t have to miss out on the fun! Instead of collecting candy at each stop, you can pick up a teal treat bag from any Cast Member at a treat trail location. This signals that you're participating in the allergy-friendly experience.

Once you’ve explored the party, head to one of these locations to trade in your teal tokens for allergy-safe treats:

  • Liberty Square Ticket Office

  • Merchant of Venus in Tomorrowland

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Guests may collect teal tokens at the treat trails or visit an Allergy-Friendly Center directly. Both centers are marked on our downloadable map.

  • Tomorrowland Treat Trail

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Mickey’s PhilharMagic and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor are indoor treat trails, making them especially helpful when you need a break from the August or September heat.

Best Candy Trails & Times for the Biggest Haul

Smart Candy Strategy (By Time of Night)

  • Before 9:00 p.m. → Grab one or two trails if you’ve got little ones who won’t last late. It’s a good “warm-up” for the night.

  • 8:15 pm (First Parade) → Prime time for candy (or rides!) while much of the crowd is lining Main Street for the parade.

  • During the 10:00 p.m. fireworks: Treat trails away from the hub may have lighter crowds, but you’ll miss the party’s only fireworks performance.

  • After 11:00 p.m. → Treat-trail lines often become shorter late in the evening, making it easier to visit several locations quickly. The candy pull is usually highest just before the end of the party.

Candy Scoop Facts

Mostly Mars brands: Snickers, M&M’s, Skittles, Milky Way, Starburst.🌱 Allergy-friendly options available: ask for teal tokens and redeem them at designated stations.

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Don’t stress about candy early—late-night scoops are the jackpot. We’ve consistently seen families leaving with backpacks full of sweets.

Tips to Make the Most of Your Night

Set Your Priorities for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Even with lighter crowds, it’s impossible to experience everything in one night—so decide early what matters most to your group. Are you there for the exclusive Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks, the Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, the rare character meet-and-greets, or the ride overlays like Space Mountain in total darkness? Make a list of your must-dos, and plan the rest of your MNSSHP night around those Halloween highlights.

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Prioritizing 3–5 key experiences will help you avoid FOMO and make the most of your time.

To Costume or Not to Costume?

Wondering if you can dress up at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? Good news—Disney’s usual costume rules for adults are relaxed during the event. You can wear a costume, but there are a few important restrictions:

  • No masks for guests age 14 and older

  • No dragging capes or floor-length skirts/dresses

  • No weapons or anything that could be mistaken as real

Many partygoers go all out with themed costumes, while others choose something more low-key. We love an excuse to Disney Bound, especially as villains—but let’s be honest: it’s still Florida. Fall here is hot, humid, and often rainy, especially in August and September. A full costume might look magical, but it may not feel so magical two hours in.

🧚 Pixie Dust Pro Tip: For early season party nights, we usually skip heavy costumes in favor of festive Halloween T-shirts and lightweight bottoms. It’s comfier, weather-proof, and still totally spirited. Or go for lightweight clothes already in your wardrobe to throw together that perfect villains adjacent look.

PhotoPass Magic Shot of Bren, Kim, and Lyn looking up at Ghosts in front of Cinderella Castle.

Want more outfit inspiration? Check out our full Disney Bounding FAQ for creative, park-friendly looks that work all year round.

  • Get Wristband Early: You’ll need it to stay in the park once the party starts.

  • Rope Drop the Characters: Some characters like Jack & Sally and Pooh & Friends start meeting before 7 p.m. - get in line early.

  • Use Parade/Fireworks Times: Character lines and rides are shorter when crowds gather for these shows.

Need a Break? Regroup & Recharge Spots at MNSSHP

Even the most magical night can get a little overwhelming—whether it’s the crowds, the sugar rush, or just sensory overload. The good news? Magic Kingdom has a few spots where you can catch your breath and reset before diving back into the fun.

  • Liberty Square Market Across from the Haunted Mansion, this area stays a little calmer than other lands. Grab a bench, enjoy the breeze, and let the bustle pass you by. We watched the fireworks from here last year during MNSSHP, and took a break from all the party craziness.

  • Railroad Station Platforms Since the trains don’t run during the party, the Frontierland and Main Street U.S.A. Stations platforms often have quiet corners to pause away from heavy foot traffic.

  • Storybook Circus Seating Between treat trail waves, Storybook Circus can feel tucked away compared to Main Street or Fantasyland. The benches by Big Top Souvenirs are a nice reset zone.

  • Mickey’s PhilharMagic (Fantasyland). This spot doubles as a treat trail during the party, but the best perk is that classic Mickey Mouse cartoons play continuously inside. It’s a great way to sit down, cool off in the A/C, and catch your breath before heading back out.

  • Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor (Tomorrowland). During the party, this turns into a treat trail with plenty of candy stops—but you’ll also find a chance to sit down, cool off, and listen to a few monster-approved jokes (including some Halloween twists). It’s not the full attraction, but it’s a fun way to recharge while still soaking in the party atmosphere.

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Even a five-minute stroll down less-trafficked walkways (like between Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus or behind Liberty Square) can be the perfect way to regroup, cool down, and recharge for more Halloween fun.

Is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Worth It in 2026?

If you’re on the fence about whether Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is worth the extra cost in 2026—you’re definitely not alone. This is one of the most common questions we get every fall!

MNSSHP is worth it if you:

  • Love Halloween vibes without anything too scary (this is very family-friendly 👻)

  • Want to see rare characters and villains you won’t find during the day

  • Are excited for exclusive entertainment like Boo-To-You Parade and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular

  • Have kids who will LOVE trick-or-treating around Magic Kingdom

  • Plan to take advantage of the 4 PM early entry + lower evening wait times

It might not be worth it if you:

  • Are on a tight budget (this is an extra ticketed event)

  • Don’t care about parades, shows, or character meet-and-greets

  • Prefer focusing on rides over themed experiences

  • Are traveling with very young kids who won’t stay late

Want Something Scarier?

If you’re looking for jump scares, haunted houses, and a more intense Halloween experience, you may enjoy Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort instead.

Unlike MNSSHP, which is designed to be fun and not-too-scary, Halloween Horror Nights features:

  • Elaborate haunted houses based on horror movies and original stories

  • Scare zones with actors and jump scares throughout the park

  • A much more intense, late-night Halloween atmosphere

👉 If you’re trying to decide between the two, we break it all down in our full Universal Studios Florida Halloween Horror Nights guide.

Our Honest Take (Based on Multiple Visits)

We’ve done Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party several times, and for us—it’s one of the most fun seasonal events at Walt Disney World. There’s just something about seeing Magic Kingdom lit up for Halloween, collecting candy, and watching the Headless Horseman ride through the park that feels extra magical.

That said… it’s not a “must-do” for every trip.

If this is your first visit to Disney World, we usually recommend prioritizing a full park day instead. But if you’ve been before or are planning a fall trip specifically for the seasonal experiences—this party can absolutely be a highlight.

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: If you want to make MNSSHP feel “worth it,” plan your night strategically—arrive at 4 PM, prioritize your must-dos early, and use parade/fireworks time to hit rides or trick-or-treat with shorter lines.
