Epcot: International Festival of the Arts

Updated: Jan 22

Here we are about to be off on our latest Walt Disney girl's trip. We're ready to do Disney After Hours at the Magic Kingdom, and make a brief trip over to Universal for some Harry Potter and to be chased by velociraptors. But mostly we are excited about Epcot.

One of our favorite things to check out and enjoy while visiting Walt Disney World are the Epcot Festivals. The park gets a whole new vibe with each festival, from the glorious sights and smells during the Flower and Garden Festival, to the delectable culinary samplings throughout the Food and Wine Festival, to the dazzling decorations and festive cheer during the Festival of the Holidays. Our favorite is the Festival of the Arts, which started January 12th and runs through February 19th. This is the shortest of the festivals, occurring at a time when park attendance is typically lower and the temperatures are cooler. During the Festival of the Arts Epcot comes alive with color and activity, from the artists booths set up throughout the park, the sidewalk chalk drawings, the performance art, and all the fun details and activities beyond celebrating both Disney and the arts.

Food Studios

Make sure to grab some of the unique food and drinks that are a feast for the eyes as well as a delight to the palate.

Who doesn’t love food! A hallmark of all the Epcot festivals are the food booths, each festival has a range of booths offering food and drinks themed to the ongoing festival. For Festival of the Arts the look of the offerings matters just as much as the taste. Over 16 different Food Studios and an assortment of other locations are found throughout the park. Some of this year’s highlights include Pop Eats' tomato soup and fancy grilled cheese (this year’s has pimento cheese, bacon, and fried green tomato), Craftsman’s Courtyard’s grilled pork belly, Deconstructed Dish’s deconstructed BLT, Goshiki’s sushi donut, Deco Delights Neapolitan dessert trio, and the rainbow cake over at Figment’s Inspiration Station.

You can find all the different booths and their locations on our Festival Map here.

The Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine

Take part in what Disney views as some of the most colorful dishes of the festival.

For this journey into colorful cuisine, you’ll use your Festival Passport - which can be picked up all over the park - to find select menu items at a variety of food studios all over the park. For ease of finding the specified items, we marked the relevant food studios on our map with a little rainbow icon. You will then track down and purchase any 5 of the featured dishes (make sure to get your stamp with each purchase). Once you have 5 stamps, you can go to Deco Delights - located on the World Showcase Plaza near the Port of Entry - to present your stamps and get a specialty food item as a prize. This Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine is a great way to add some extra colorful fun to your festival experience.

The Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine items:

  • Pop Eats: Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese

  • Pop Eats: Tomato Soup with Pimento Cheese, Bacon and Fried Green Tomato Grilled Cheese

Performing Arts (in World Showcase Plaza)

Epcot’s Festival of the Arts is a celebration of all forms of art. In addition to the colorful works of art all around you, you can also see art being performed daily in the World Showcase Plaza.

  • Art Defying Gravity (Saturday through Wednesday, check MDE app for times): Marvel at incredible feats of strength, agility, and acrobatics

  • Visual Art in Performance (Thursday through Sunday, 1:00pm and 4:00pm): Watch visiting artists create fabulous works of art right before your eyes.

  • Musical Performances (Daily, check MDE app for times): enjoy live music performed between the different visual performance acts.

Art All Around You

In addition to the artistic food, performances, activities, and goodies for sale all around Epcot, there are also a number of artistic enhancements that can be found all around.

  • Chalk Art Galleries (bridge to World Showcase Plaza): local artists are invited to create amazing works of chalk art right on the walkway to the World Showcase.

  • Chalk Full of Characters: Keep your eyes peeled for Disney characters rendered throughout the World Showcase. These hidden gems can be found on walls, walkways, and even signs.

  • Character Meet and Greet Art: Another special festival flair can be found at most of the character meet and greet locations, where special art corresponding to character is featured.

Artful Activities

You can get in on the colorfun by joining in and taking advantage of these art filled activities throughout the park!

  • Animation Academy (American Gardens Theater 12:30pm and 1:30pm daily): Learn how to draw some of your favorite Disney characters in this class taught by a Disney animator. This is a popular activity, so if you want to participate, arrive early.

  • Figment’s Brush with the Masters Scavenger Hunt (purchase map for $9.99 plus tax at Creations Shop, Port of Entry, and World Traveler):  Search for Figment featured in popular works of art with a Figment-y twist. around the World Showcase. When you finish you get a little prize

  • Paint By Numbers Mural (available between 11:00am and 5:00pm daily)  Contribute to a paint by numbers mural, you’ll stand in line to receive a little paint cup, paint brush, and coordinated number to paint, then you will go paint your square. Over time the mural is collectively filled in by the many guests who come by. This is a cute little fun and free activity.

  • Artful Photo Ops & Photopass Magic Shots: Find yourself the center of famous paintings or get photos with fun magical add ons unique to the Festival of the Arts.

BROADWAY Concert Series

Concert at the America Gardens Theatre: Disney on Broadway Concert Series. Broadway artists perform medleys of Disney Broadway hits!

Another staple at each of the Epcot festivals is the evening concert series held at the American Garden Theater in the American Pavilion. As mega fans of both Disney and Broadway we feel the Festival of the Arts BROADWAY Concert Series was made for us! What could be more fun than getting to watch some of the Disney on Broadway stars singing Disney Broadway hits!  What songs performed each night changes, but you are sure to have a blast at this concert, offered daily at 5:00pm, 6:45pm, and 8:00pm. What to Buy

Pick up some uniquely artistic souvenirs at one of the many kiosks or shops around the park.

  • All around the park there are festival markets and artist galleries full of artwork for purchase. These are unique pieces (and generally cheaper print options) created by Disney and invited artists. For the most part they are all Disney themed, though they range from the parks to animated movies to Star Wars and beyond, there is some non Disney art scattered in places.

  • Each festival has unique merchandise on sale each year to look out for. The Festival of the Arts often features Figment playing around with paints and such.

2024 Epcot: International Festival of the Arts Map

When planning out our own Festival Experience we spent some time looking for the perfect map to tell us where the different booths were for our libations and snacking, and also where we could sit and beat the heat or the rain. We couldn't find exactly what we wanted, so we put one together ourselves! Here it is for you both online and as a downloadable pdf.
