How is Blizzard Beach themed?

Imagine a melted away ski resort set in sunny Central Florida! The park’s backstory involves a freak winter storm that transforms the area into an impromptu ski village. With charming details like the Ice Gator mascot and architecture that nods to a quaint Swiss chalet, Blizzard Beach nails the quirky theme—proving that even melted snow can make a splash.

What attractions are at Blizzard Beach?

Blizzard Beach water park boasts 12 attractions right now, featuring everything from adrenaline-pumping water slides for solo thrill-seekers and group racers to a sprawling lazy river. It's designed around a unique “slope” concept, and each area offers its own blend of thrills and chill:

Green Slope:

Summit Plummet: Dubbed one of the fastest water slides on the planet, this adrenaline rush reaches speeds up to 55 MPH. It’s your chance to tick off that “I did it” moment, even if the thrill comes with a quick heart pounding sprint and a brief encounter with gravity. Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride.

Slush Gusher: Think of it as Summit Plummet light—a fast slide that creates the sensation of extra “air time” without the full plunge of intensity. Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride.

Teamboat Springs: A family raft ride that comfortably accommodates six per raft. It’s celebrated as the world’s longest family raft ride, offering fun for everyone with minimal wait times.

 Purple Slope:

Downhill Double Dipper: Enjoy a race on a twin tube slide with multiple heats. Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride.

Snow Stormers: Lie back on mats and let the slalom style course dictate your wild descent.

Toboggan Racers: Up to eight friends racing side by side makes for an epic, laughter filled competition.

Red Slope:

Runoff Rapids: An inner tube ride reminiscent of Crush ‘N’ Gusher—but without the extra propulsion. It even offers options for multiple riders.

Additionally, the melted adventure extends to "relaxing zones":

Melt-Away Bay: 1-acre heated pool with gently lapping waves, perfect for leisurely floating or splashing around - note that this area is often extremely crowded.

Cross Country Creek: 3,000-foot-long lazy river that circles the park.  Guest can pick up an inner tube at any of the 7 landings along the route.

Ski Patrol Training Area: this pre-teen area features less intense slides, an iceberg walk, obstacle course, and a T-drop bar.  Guests must be under 60 inches.

Tike’s Peak: A Frozen themed splash area for preschoolers that features a sand beach, mini-slides, fountains and water jets.

ree

Chair Lift: A ride that’s more than just transport, it gives you scenic views on the three minute ascent to Mount Gushmore. You must be 32 inches or taller to ride.

Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Lines get LONG during lunchtime, so plan to either eat early or late to avoid the crowds.

Does Blizzard Beach have a refillable drink mug?

Yes, but it can only be used at the water park on the day of purchase. Much like the resort refillable mugs it uses RapidFill RFID technology, so you will be unable to use it on another day at Blizzard Beach, even if it is on the same trip.

Are there lockers and towels available?

Yes, you can rent both standard lockers at $10 a day and large lockers at $15 a day. Lockers are keyless and can be used throughout the day for a one-time charge. You can rent lockers at electronic kiosks in the locker areas at Beach Haus and Snowless Joe's.

They include towels, refillable drink mugs, a locker to secure belongings, and cold bottled water, a dedicated Cast Member attendant to make your day magical. How crowded is Blizzard Beach?

On warm sunny days, in the late morning to early afternoon very! Especially with Disney resort guests having free entry on arrival day. On weekends it does sometimes hit capacity. Try to go right as the park opens or later in the afternoon. We are hopeful that when both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are open this summer that will help mitigate crowd size as guest have two water parks to choose from.

Does Blizzard Beach ever close for inclement weather?

Yes, during inclement weather or if an extended bout of cold temperatures are predicted, Disney will close the water park. If Blizzard Beach is closed on your arrival day as a Disney resort guest, planDisney.com suggests speaking to a Cast Member to see if there is an alternative day you could visit the park, but know this is not guaranteed.

If I am Disney Resort Guest, so I need to check into the hotel on my arrival day before heading to Blizzard Beach?

Guests do not have to check in to their resort before going to a Disney water park. That means you can head straight to your water park of choice to save you time.

Ultimately, is Blizzard Beach worth your time?

If you are a fan of water parks or need a cool break from the hot Florida weather, absolutely! Even more so with the Disney resort guests getting free entry to one of the Disney Water Park on arrival day Blizzard Beach offers more than rides; it’s a unique blend of storytelling, heart pounding thrills, and laid back vibes that transform an ordinary day into an extraordinary experience.
