Updated July 19, 2025: Now includes the debut of the Starlight: Dream the Night Away nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom!

The castle hub is the heart of the Magic Kingdom—and the backdrop for magical moments from sunrise to fireworks. From the early morning opening show to a lively parade and nighttime spectaculars, there’s always something happening in front of Cinderella Castle.

Here’s what to expect and how to make the most of the shows and parades during your Disney day:

🎭 Magic Kingdom Shows:

Let the Magic Begin – Opening Show

This charming little show happens on the stage in front of Cinderella Castle just before the park officially opens. You’ll see Mickey and a few friends pop out to welcome everyone to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, we don’t recommend lingering to watch this show. Use that valuable 30 minutes of Early Entry to get ahead of the crowds and hop on a headliner attraction. If you're staying offsite, we suggest heading straight to one of the land entrances and positioning yourself near the front of the pack for rope drop.

Let the Magic Begin

Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire

Several times a day, Mickey and the gang return to the castle stage for this upbeat 20-minute show featuring music and appearances from Tangled, Frozen, and The Princess and the Frog. It’s colorful, cute, and filled with familiar tunes.

Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: If you have little ones who love Tiana, Elsa, or Rapunzel, this might be a must-do. Otherwise, don’t stress about timing your day around it—just stop and enjoy if you find yourself nearby when it’s happening.

Magic Kingdom Parades:

Festival of Fantasy Parade

Magic Kingdom’s daytime parade, Festival of Fantasy, typically runs once daily around 3:00 PM. During especially busy periods (e.g., summer, holidays), Disney often adds a second showing—usually around noon. Always check the My Disney Experience app or the printed Times Guide on your visit day for the latest schedule.

This high-energy parade is a Disney classic. You’ll see beloved characters, dancers, and show-stopping floats—including the fire-breathing Maleficent dragon. It’s bold, bright, and packed with Disney magic.

Tiana: Festival of Fantasy Parade

Here are some of our favorite parade viewing spots:

  • Liberty Square and Frontierland usually offer more elbow room and a close-up view of the floats as they cross the bridge.

  • Main Street USA and the castle hub deliver iconic photo ops—but you'll want to stake out your spot at least 30–45 minutes early for a front-row view.

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Traveling with someone who loves the parade but hates the crowds? Try watching from the walls next to the Sleepy Hollow quick service spot in Liberty Square. You’ll catch the floats just as they cross the bridge toward the castle, and it’s often a much calmer viewing spot compared to Main Street or the hub.

NEW for 2025!

🌠 Starlight: Dream the Night Away Parade

Debuted July 20, 2025, this dazzling nighttime parade brings new energy to Magic Kingdom after dark. With brand-new floats, glowing costumes, and an original musical score, it’s quickly becoming a guest favorite.

  • Showtimes: Nightly at 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM (check the app for current listings)

  • Route: Begins in Frontierland, travels through Liberty Square, loops around the hub, and heads up Main Street USA

  • Duration: About 20 minutes

Here's how to choose the best spot for your group:

  • 🎆 First showing (9 PM) is your best bet if have small children or need wrap up your park day sooner. But be prepared it, will be crowded and the best viewing areas will fill up fast!

  • 🌙 Second showing (11 PM) tends to have lighter crowds, making it a more relaxed option for families or anyone who prefers breathing room.

  • 🤠 Frontierland is a great pick for last-minute viewing and offers an easy exit route if you're heading out after the show.

  • 📸 If you want those perfect castle-centered shots, plan to arrive 60–90 minutes early and stake out your spot in the hub or near Main Street.

This parade does not run on nights with special ticketed events, like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Very Merry Christmas Party, so plan accordingly.

🌠 Nighttime Shows

Happily Ever After

Happily Ever After is Magic Kingdom’s signature fireworks spectacular—and trust us, it's not to be missed. With a soaring original score, castle and Main Street projections, and jaw-dropping fireworks, this show delivers Disney magic in its most iconic form. (Not us crying every single time!)

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: After you’ve seen Happily Ever After once… you’ll want to see it again. It’s just that good.

When to Watch

  • Most nights, the show runs once at park closing (usually between 8:00–10:00 PM).

  • On busy nights or holiday weeks, you might see two showings—an early one and a second at park close.

  • Always confirm showtimes in the My Disney Experience app or the daily Times Guide.

Where to Watch

  • The full experience is best from directly in front of Cinderella Castle or on Main Street USA, where you’ll see the synchronized projections and get that epic firework finale.

  • But... it’s crowded. Like shoulder-to-shoulder, no-personal-space crowded. If that’s not your thing, there are quieter spots farther back in the hub or near the entrances to Adventureland and Tomorrowland. You won’t see every projection, but you'll still feel the magic.

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Dust Pro Tip:If you or a family member or friend really struggles with crowds try watching from Gaston's Tavern in Fantasyland or near the Rapunzel bathrooms.

Want to skip the stress of staking out a spot and enjoy a sweet treat at the same time? Consider booking a Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. You’ll get a reserved fireworks viewing area and an all-you-care-to-enjoy spread of desserts, cheeses, fruit, and drinks—including alcoholic options.

Happily Ever After Fireworks and Projections

We strongly recommend making time to see Happily Ever After at least once—it’s the kind of show that sticks with you (and let’s be honest, you’ll probably want to see it again and again).

🎬 Wrap-Up: Don’t Miss the Magic

From castle stage shows to epic parades and unforgettable fireworks, Magic Kingdom’s entertainment offerings are pure Disney magic. While it’s tempting to spend your entire day chasing rides (and we don’t blame you!), we highly recommend carving out time for at least one show, parade, or nighttime spectacular during your visit.

✨ Whether you’re dancing along with Mickey during Festival of Fantasy, catching a second wind during Starlight: Dream the Night Away, or tearing up during the final notes of Happily Ever After, these are the moments that make a Disney trip unforgettable.
