🎮 PowerUp Bands at SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™ – Your Complete Guide to Epic Universe Gameplay
Planning your trip to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD at Universal’s Epic Universe? Don’t just walk through the land play through it! Power-Up Bands turn your Universal Orlando experience into a fully immersive game. Collect coins, unlock challenges, and battle Bowser Jr. himself.
This guide will show you exactly how to use Power-Up Bands at Epic Universe and make the most of your day.
🏰 What is a PowerUp Band
A Power-Up Band is a wearable, snap-on wristband that acts as your personal controller in Super Nintendo World. They come with a QR code that connects with the Universal Orlando Resort app to track your progress and unlock interactive features throughout the land. The bands are priced at $42 plus tax and can be purchased inside the park as well as at gift shops in the new Epic Universe Resort Hotels.
You can choose your band design from six Nintendo characters:
Mario
Luigi
Princess Peach
Princess Daisy
Toad
Yoshi
Pick your favorite and rep your team throughout the day!
✨Pixie Dust Pro Tip: If possible buy the bands before you enter the park so you don't have to waste your park time setting it up.
🎮 Linking Your SUPER NINTENDO WORLD Power-Up Band
Getting your Power-Up Band linked is quick and easy! Just flip the band over to find the QR code on the back. Open the Universal Orlando app, head to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, and tap the Universal Play icon. (Make sure you're logged into your Universal account—or create one if you haven’t yet.)
You’ll be prompted to scan the QR code to link your band, then you can choose a name for your character.
✨ Pixie Dust Pro Tip: Have a few name ideas ready—your first pick might already be taken!
Once you're all set, you can manage multiple Power-Up Bands, edit player profiles, and even follow friends to track their progress throughout the land.

Smash Blocks for Coins: Just like the games! Find interactive blocks and punch them to rack up coins.
Play Interactive Mini-Games: Complete challenges to earn stamps, keys, and more.

Bands Interact with Rides & Queues – Not just the land!
Pack a PUNCH – This is not a Disney MagicBand. You do not need to touch it to the different blocks for the band to interact. In fact, that can scratch or damage the face of the band. Instead punch the blocks your fist. POW!

Bonus Pixie Dust Secret – Your Power-Up Band Is Also a Nintendo Amiibo! Here’s a magical secret many guests don’t know, Power-Up Bands at Epic Universe double as Nintendo Amiibo! That means when you return home, you can use your band on your Nintendo Switch to unlock exclusive content in games like *Mario Kart 8 Deluxe*, *Super Smash Bros. Ultimate*, and more.

Each Power-Up Band comes with a Power-Up Band Map, an interactive guide that shows you:
Game locations
Key challenge spots

🎮 Key Game Locations
Goomba Crazy Crank – Spin the crank fast to defeat the Goomba.
Koopa Troopa POWer Punch – Hit the POW Block to knock out a Koopa.
Piranha Plant Nap Mishap – Stop the alarms before Petey Piranha wakes!
Bob-omb Kaboom Room – Solve the puzzle before the Bob-omb explodes.
Thwomp Panel Panic – Flip blocks in order before Thwomp strikes!
Complete any three of these five challenges to earn keys for the boss battle.
🔑 Digital Keys
Digital Keys are earned by completing mini-games and are required to unlock Bowser Jr.’s Shadow Showdown—the final boss challenge of Super Nintendo World.

Once you’ve earned three keys you'll be able to scan to enter for Bowser Jr.’s Shadow Showdown—a fully immersive, virtual reality-style boss fight.
