April in Walt Disney World

Updated: Aug 31, 2023

April brings the start of summer showers and some potentially muggy weather along with Easter crowds

As you move into April, this is when the weather starts to heat up. You won’t find the blistering summer days of July and August, but it isn’t necessarily pleasant anymore. With the increase in temperatures, the pools and water parks gain more popularity as a way to cool off in the midday heat.

The beginning of the month has those higher crowd levels and Spring Break and Easter season wrap up. The remainder of the month has low crowds corresponding lower costs.

Additionally, Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival is on-going. During this festival the park comes alive with beautiful flowers and character topiaries. There are also fun activities, food booths, and a nightly concert to check out.

Pros:

  • At the beginning of the month, where there are higher crowds, the park operating hours are longer.

  • Later in the month, when Spring Break and Easter holiday season are over, the cost of tickets, hotel rooms, and Genie+ go down.

  • It is rare for popular rides to be closed for refurbishment during April.

  • Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival is ongoing

Cons:

  • The weather starts to warm up, with average lows in the 60s and highs in the 80. However, you can see days get up into the 90s and the chance of rain this month is higher.

  • Early in the month, the crowd levels can be quite high during the Spring Break and Easter season.
